The
75 strong Gallipoli contingent, made up of 50 NZDF personnel and 25 Youth
Ambassadors, has arrived at Canakkale, Turkey to take part in the 100th
commemorations on Anzac Day. The team is made of a catafalque guard and members
of the Defence Force band and Maori Culture Group, as well as a support group
from Veterans' Affairs New Zealand.
Having
travelled in a Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757, the team is now
rehearsing and looking forward to being involved in the Gallipoli
commemorations that lie ahead

Australia and New Zealand conduct three commemorative services at
Gallipoli on Anzac Day each year. The Dawn Service at the Anzac Commemorative
Site is jointly conducted by both countries and is followed by an Australian
Memorial Service at Lone Pine, and a New Zealand Memorial Service at Chunuk
Bair.

(Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day is the anniversary of the landing
of troops from Australia and New Zealand on the Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey, in
World War I on April 25, 1915. The bravery of all military personnel who
participated in this campaign and the lives of those who died in all military
actions are remembered.
